About the data

• Emissions are modelled estimates for individual facilities and countries, built from satellite observations, plant operating data and emissions factors. They can differ from what operators or governments report.
• Figures are tonnes of CO₂-equivalent on a 100-year warming basis unless you pick another gas or basis on the global atlas.
• The power map covers fossil and thermal plants with modelled emissions from 2021 to 2025. Plants burning several fuels are grouped under their main fuel, and US states are assigned from plant coordinates.
• The global atlas shows country totals for every sector, plus the largest ~3,000 individual sources in each sector.
• The data is refreshed monthly. If something looks off, use Feedback and we'll check it.
